Allegheny West Magazine is a good news publication with four unique editions – Moon, Montour, West Allegheny and Cornell – each serving their respective school district in western Allegheny County. Each edition is direct mailed free to every home and business in its respective school district.
Now in its 20th year, Allegheny West Magazine was started by Pat Jennette as an offshoot of her marketing and public relations consulting business, Jennette Communications. In 2014, the magazine transitioned ownership to Jennette’s assistant editor of two years, Doug Hughey.
We’re interested in stories about people doing good in their communities. We’re also interested in local history and individual and group achievements. We publish local nonprofit events and look for ways to connect area residents with local organizations, governments, schools, businesses and each other.
Our Moon and Montour editions are published on the odd months of the year and our West Allegheny edition is published on the even. Our Cornell edition is published in October, February, June and August. Magazines are delivered the second to third week of the month, except for our December West Allegheny edition, which is delivered the first to second week of the month.
Email works best. Shoot us one at: info@awmagazine.com
We publish nonprofit events at no charge. Keep in mind though that we might need a pretty long lead time to publish events, since magazines get delivered the second to third week of their respective months.
In addition to mailing our each of our editions to every home and business in their respective school district, we also drop copies at high foot traffic locations across the area. These include libraries, grocery stores, municipal buildings, restaurants and more. Feel free to drop into these establishments to grab a few extra copies of a current edition.
Here’s an interactive map showing common places where we drop current editions. The map is color coded as follows:
Yes, we do offer yearlong subscriptions to each of our editions. You can subscribe easily and securely here.
More about the magazine, including our distribution areas and advertising rates, can be found in our media packet here.
We began posting each of our editions online starting in 2008. In February of 2014, we began utilizing a flipbook viewer that makes it easy to share individual pages in emails and via social media. To do so, just flip to the page you want to share, copy the URL and paste it into an email or share on social media.
